Seed vs Klora

One of the most important aspects to making sure you stay healthy, especially with our questionable food supply, is maintaining your gut health. “Is my digestion sluggish? Are my energy levels the best they can be?”– are common questions that almost everybody can identify with.

It turns out that 70 million Americans suffer from some sort of gastrointestinal (GI) issue that prevents them from living their best life. This includes issues like: bloating, brain fog, indigestion, low mood and poor quality of sleep, among many others. Often overlooked, a faulty gut can cause major setbacks in life like missed workdays and having to skip out on spending time with your loved ones.

Along with diet and exercise, a gut supplement can be key in helping return your digestion to normal. So, our editors compared the two leading gut brand’s hero products – Klora’s Gut-Renew and Seed’s DS-01 to help you make this critical decision, and here’s what we found:

Key Similarities

Both are shelf stable and don’t require refrigeration

Both are free of eggs, shellfish, soy, peanuts, wheat, and tree nuts;

Both contain a prebiotic and come in a dual capsule delivery system

So far, so good, right? Yet we were a bit surprised when we started examining the differences–

Key Differences:

  • Klora’s Gut-Renew contains a prebiotic and a postbiotic, both of which are made to help support leaky gut, microbiome health and neurological function that anyone (13+) can take.
  • Seed’s DS-01 contains a pre and probiotic combination which is made to gut function and bacterial colonies. Often a probiotic that works for one person may cause issues in another person.
  • Klora’s Gut-Renew contains 2′-Fucosyllactose (2’FL) which is an extremely powerful prebiotic (molecularly similar to the one found in breast milk) that not only supports natural probiotic growth but also helps with overall immune function and sleep.
  • Seed’s DS-01 has a small amount of prebiotic from pomegranate that forms their outer capsule that is meant to support their probiotic and overall microbial health.
  • Klora’s Gut-Renew contains a patented postbiotic. The postbiotic is made from a fatty acid called butyrate which is the main fuel for the cells that line the digestive tract and is important for functions that supports vascular health, cellular health and even brain health.
  • Seed’s DS-01 contains no postbiotics.
  • Klora’s Gut-Renew is made for everyone (13+) and is compatible with any probiotic for that extra boost.
  • Seed’s DS-01 doesn’t state whether it is compatible with other probiotics
  • Klora’s Gut-Renew can be taken daily, but only needs to be taken for 5 days a week to be effective.
  • Seed’s DS-01 must be taken every day, 7 days a week

Klora was co-founded by Dr. Kirten Parekh who, after suffering from debilitating Chron’s disease for 3 years, realized that the “high end science” that helped get him better was not readily available. He found prebiotics and postbiotics immensely helpful and he was surprised that there were little to no offerings found online.

After going back to graduate school to learn about nutrition, he discovered that the gut is central to whole body well-being. It acts as our second brain and plays a massive role in keeping the body in balance. So together with his co-founders and a team of scientists they created Gut-Renew which is Klora’s Hero product that contains a prebiotic and postbiotic in one daily dose.

Seed is a gut health brand with a single product—the DS-O1 Daily Synbiotic probiotic. The company got its start in 2018 when cofounders Ara Katz and Raja Dhir determined that the current probiotic supplements available weren’t hitting the mark.

The DS-01 Daily Synbiotic is a broad-spectrum probiotic that combines 24 probiotic strains with a non-fermenting prebiotic concentrate for better delivery. Of these strains, 23 are human-derived, and one is isolated from fruit and added to promote healthy cholesterol levels. These strains work synergistically to support the 38 trillion bacteria that make up your microbiome. They will purportedly help the body digest food, and better synthesize nutrients.

While there are similarities, our editors strongly prefer Klora’s Gut-Renew as our consensus winner. Klora has made arguably one of the most potent gut formulas on the market today with Gut-Renew. Their delayed release capsule is unique in that it houses their innovative prebioticand postbiotic combination.

What makes Klora Different:

Klora’s Gut-Renew is the only product on the market that has the unique combination of a prebiotic and postbiotic. The capsules are a combination of two powerful ingredients that help promote good bacteria and the cells of the digestive system at the same time.

  • 2’Fl is a powerful human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) prebiotic that is identical to the molecular structure found in breast milk. It helps immune function by feeding the good bacteria and by increasing microbiome diversity.
  • Butyrate as the postbiotic provides energy for the cells in the large intestine. It promotes the formation of healthy digestive cells, modulates immune function, and helps the integrity of the GI barrier.

Unfortunately for many, finding a gut health supplement is a lot of trial and error which is why Klora’s Gut-Renew is considered by many to be the better supplement because of their unique ingredients, and compatibility with most consumers.
