Literie’s Candles Are A Love Letter To New York City

What is more quintessential to New York City than a heaping slice of decadent, Junior’s cheesecake?

Ever wanted to capture that iconic flavor and indulge in its warm and comforting scent of berries, cream, and vanilla whenever you’d like? Well, now you can.

Literie, a NYC-based candle manufacturer and retailer, has partnered with the beloved NYC landmark restaurant to create A Slice of Strawberry Cheesecake inspired by a slice of cheesecake from Junior’s.

Literie’s visionary founder, Erica Werber is a born and raised New Yorker who started the candle brand shortly after the onset of COVID-19. When NYC started to get a bad rap after the pandemic had begun and locals were leaving in droves, she sought a way to encapsulate the essence of the joys of NYC to remind people about everything they loved about the city.

And so Literie was born.

Hailing from Midtown East in NYC, Werber is as native to New York as they come.

“This is my love letter to New York City,” Werber said. “I was born in Midtown East. I met my husband in Little Italy and we were married in Battery Park. I birthed my children on the Upper East Side and we live on the Upper West Side. I even ran the New York City Marathon. Let’s just say, I know what this city smells like.”

Werber explains that she was inspired to start the brand by her late father, Steven Schwartz’s fondness for roasted nuts from NYC’s sidewalk carts. She would pass the carts on her way to work, overcome by the unforgettable aroma.

“I wanted to figure out a way to bottle the familiar scent, which led me to think about all of the other amazing smells of this city,” she explained.

Hot Roasted Nut Cart does just that, paying ode to the delicious, nutty and burnt sugar scent you may catch a whiff of from a nearby cart as you run about Times Square.

And so do the rest of the range in her NYC-themed collection. With cheeky names like Bodega Coffee, a bestseller with notes of espresso and cream, or Pizza from A Guy Named Joe, bursting with the mouthwatering scent of basil and tomato, residents, visitors, and everyone in between will enjoy the delightful selection.

Perhaps you are looking for a more botanical fragrance? 28th Street Flower market is evocative of the NYC flower market of the same name when it is in full bloom, emanating the sweet and delicate scent of peony and rose.

Or maybe you would like to pay tribute to your never-ending pursuit of acquiring a green thumb? No matter the window space or natural light you are working with in your home, I Bought Another House Plant, with its fresh and crisp aroma of lemon leaves, captures the excitement of watching a seedling start to grow.

Consumers can’t get enough of the brand, nor can the press. And with its offerings so perfectly capturing the essence of NYC, it’s no wonder. Literie’s range also includes candles with scents inspired by Miami and the Hamptons, diffusers, and other accessories.

Made from a vegan soy and coconut wax blend with luxe fragrance oils in elegant packaging, Literie candles are as aesthetically pleasing as the scents they emit.

Literie’s candles are available for purchase on their website, www.literiecandle.com.
